Coun Susan Hinchcliffe, Bradford Council’s executive member for culture, said: “This fascinating exhibition will offer a unique opportunity to see some works that have rarely been seen before in public and it is the first of our significant exhibitions, which we have been able to attract, because we have upgraded facilities.

“There are also a number of different events being held across the district while the work is on display, which will bring unusual insights into this exhibition.”

Dante Gabriel Rossetti was a poet, illustrator, painter and translator who founded the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood in 1848 with William Holman Hunt and John Everett Millais.

A series of events has been organised to run alongside the Cartwright Hall exhibition to further explain his work.
