Rotherham motorbiker killed in collision was "loving family man" expecting first grandchild

A family have paid tribute to a father-of-three who died after being involved in a crash while riding his motorbike in South Yorkshire.

Peter Heard, 65, died last month following a collision involving his yellow Honda motorbike and a silver Vauxhall Zafira car in Whiston.

Today his loved ones spoke about the loss of a "loving family man" as police renewed their appeal for witnesses to the crash on February 18.

It happened at around 12.50pm in Worry Goose Lane, close to the junction with Greystones Road.

Mr Heard, 65, was taken to Northern General Hospital with life threatening injuries and died a short time later.

In a statement, his family said: “Peter was a loving family man, with two sons and a daughter. He was also expecting his first grandchild in May this year.

“He lived in Rotherham all his life, working locally and he recently retired from his job as a HGV driver.

“He loved his motorcycle and enjoyed working on it and riding it in his spare time, as well as enjoying quiet evenings out with his loved ones.

“He will be greatly missed by us all and we ask that our privacy is respected while we continue to grieve our loss.”
