Route revealed for town’s 10k run

PLANS for Doncaster’s first running event in years have been unveiled after the council joined forces with a race organiser to stage a 10k through the streets of the town.

The Doncaster 10k will take place on Sunday, May 13, with the start and finish at the racecourse and will be followed by a fun run for less serious runners.

The course will also take in the town centre, Town Fields and the markets area and organisers, Metres to Miles said they had already had hundreds of expressions of interest in taking part.

Spokesman Julian Moorhouse said: “We are delighted to be working with the council to bring this event to Doncaster.

“The response has been tremendous since we opened entries last week.

“We had hundreds of people register in the first 36 hours, with entrants coming from London, Cumbria and even one entrant from the Isle of Man.

“It really is a great year to get the event off the ground, 2012 is a tremendous year for sport in the UK and this event is for everyone”.

Entry to the main event costs £20, while the fun run fee is £8. Runners should register online at www.metrestomiles.co.uk
