Rovers to get £32m stadium in deal to cut losses

UP to eight people are to lose their jobs at the Keepmoat stadium “imminently” because of ongoing losses.

But the council report into the future of the stadium adds that it is hoped the proposed deal with Doncaster Rovers will safeguard the rest of the staff.

Rovers will aim to reduce costs and overheads under the deal by combining the club’s existing management with that of the Stadium Management Company.

Although the club will take on the burden of day-to-day running costs, Rovers will have the opportunity to increase income from fans and other people using the bars, gym and five-a-side complex.

Further income is anticipated from the running of car boot sales.

Under the deal, the club will also be granted a longer-term agreement on their council-owned training ground at Cantley.
