Harrogate Hospital Radio chairman Mark Bexley, said: “Being awarded the Duke of York Community Initiative is a fantastic achievement and a real honour for the society and the members who give their time freely.

“We are very proud of the work we do within Harrogate District Hospital and this award is a marvellous seal of approval for our organisation.

“Now that we are a member of this exclusive club, we will be doing everything in our power to ensure that we stay a part of it.”

The Duke of York founded the award scheme in 1997 to recognise excellence and encourage the development of community spirit, individual leadership and charitable initiatives across Yorkshire and the Humber.
