Royal duties call for Prince after combat posting

Prince Harry is back in Britain after a 20-week tour of Afghanistan in which he revealed he killed Taliban fighters, and declared: “You get asked to do things that you would expect to do wearing this uniform, and it’s as simple as that, really.”

The 28-year-old Apache co-pilot gunner flew back into RAF Brize Norton, in Oxfordshire, last night after his post-deployment “decompression” in Cyprus.

He hoped to dedicate more time to royal duties and charitable causes in the year ahead, and said he was looking forward to seeing his family.

Asked if he would like a “normal life”, he added: “I don’t know what normal is any more. I never really have done. There’s nothing normal about what we’ve been doing for the last four-and-a-half months.”
