Royals make waves for Murray

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge joined in with the crowd’s Mexican waves at Wimbledon yesterday, as tennis fans celebrated Andy Murray’s emphatic quarter-final victory. William and Kate took their seats in Court One shortly before play got under way in the third seed’s match against Spain’s Nicolas Almagro.

The couple were accompanied by the president of the International Tennis Federation, Francesco Ricci Bitti, and were welcomed with a round of applause from the stands.

Murray was given an even greater reception as the match began, with the partisan crowd waving Union flags and roaring at every point he won.
