Sands apartments sold out

There were clear skies yesterday for the £140m scheme to transform Scarborough's North Bay as the last of the 100 apartments built in the first phase found a buyer.

In April last year, the Yorkshire Post revealed that more than 7m worth of the luxury flats were standing empty because of the credit crunch. But sales picked up this year generating enough cash to fund the revamp of the Open Air Theatre.

Sands Sea Front Apartments Director Rachel Dean said: “We are thrilled at having sold all the apartments, especially given the dire financial climate.” There was also a long waiting list if any of the properties came back on the market. Picture: Gerard Binks.
