Saudi deal comes to rescue of aircraft workers

The campaign to save jobs at Brough was about “gradually chipping away with a really sensible argument,” according to Hull West and Hessle MP Alan Johnson. Last October workers cycled 110 miles through the night to campaign at the Tory Party conference in Manchester, followed by a lobby at Westminster in December.

But it was the company’s AGM earlier this month which seemed to really hit home – particularly the revelation that the Brough redundancies had been referred to as Operation Bosworth – allegedly relating to the fact that Brough would take the hit while the company’s two aerospace sites in Lancashire – Warton and Samlesbury – would survive.
