School escapes blame over fall

A school where a girl was seriously injured after falling down a stairwell has "no case to answer".

The Health and Safety Executive was called in after the pupil fell two floors down a spiral staircase at Raine’s Foundation School in east London on Wednesday.

The girl, who is thought to be 11 years old, was taken to the hospital in a “serious” condition.

Yesterday, the HSE and police said they had closed their investigations.
