School lines up a piece of Old Trafford technology

TECHNOLOGY used by some of the world's most famous football clubs is helping a Harrogate school ensure the lines on its sports pitches are perfectly straight.

The laser-guided system, which Ashville College is now utilising to mark out its rugby pitches, is already employed by ground staff at Manchester United, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Aston Villa.

It would previously have taken up to 25 minutes to mark out one of the school's rugby pitches, with the only guide for accuracy being a piece of string tied between two posts.

The BeamRider laser-guided line marking system is now being used, and the time has been reduced to just 10 minutes.

Ashville College's headmaster, Mark Lauder, said: "We take sport very seriously at Ashville, and this latest acquisition demonstrates our ongoing commitment to improving our facilities, both on the pitch and in the classroom.

"After all, if it's good enough for Old Trafford and The Bernabu, then it's good enough for Ashville College."
