School’s garden project is a gas...

SCHOOL pupils in Howden have had a helping hand from staff at local gas companies to create a wildlife garden.

Howden Junior School received a Lottery grant of £1,500 last year and spent most of it installing an eco-pond, but needed help to complete the garden.

Northern Gas Networks, which had spent £135,000 fitting new gas mains in the town, lent a team of workers to help, clearing hazardous waste and creating a range of features including raised planters from recycled gas pipes.
