Schools' group winscharity rules review
A private schools' group was yesterday granted permission for a judicial review of rules governing charity status.
Under the new rules, private schools must prove they benefit children who cannot afford their fees in order to keep their charitable status and the tax breaks that come with it. But the Independent Schools Council argues that the Charity Commission’s guidance on the new public benefit test is too narrow.
