Scientists pool resources to boost farming

North Yorkshire scientists are hoping to secure funding to look at new ways for the farming sector to achieve efficient and sustainable ways of meeting the needs of a growing population.

Fifty scientists from the University of York, the Food & Environment Research Agency, Askham Bryan College and the Stockbridge Technology Centre aim to focus new collaborative research projects on tackling herbicide resistance, developing better tools to ensure food authenticity, safety and quality, and to measure the benefits of increased field margins.

Their expertise is being drawn together to decide how the Yorkshire region can help to deliver the Government’s new Agricultural Technologies strategy.
