Scottish Widow given fresh look

THE image of the Scottish Widow has been given a fresh look in a new series of photographs.

The mysterious figure in a flowing black cape has been the face of life and pensions provider Scottish Widows for about 23 years.

She was given a makeover in 2006 when Scots photographer David Boni won a competition to shoot the Scottish Widow for a calendar.

Boni was invited back this year to take new pictures, with a view to keeping the brand imagery up to date.

The 2010 photographs will be used across the company's marketing materials. Short pieces of footage have also been filmed for use on the firm's website.

Senior brand manager Stuart Green said: "Scottish Widows is always looking for new ways to bring the iconic image of the Scottish Widow to life.

"David was a real find for the brand back in 2006, and we are delighted to invite him back on board to shoot the new Scottish Widows photographs.

"David has brought a fresh interpretation to the brief, helping the Scottish Widow to step out of the confines of traditional imagery."
