Sculptor chosen for Larkin statue

A sculptor who created a statue of Sir John Betjeman at the remodelled St Pancras station in London has been invited to do the same for Hull by honouring Philip Larkin.

Martin Jennings has been commissioned to build a tribute to Larkin outside Paragon Station, a source of inspiration for some his best-loved poems.

The statue will be unveiled on December 2, the 25th anniversary of his death. Mr Jennings’s image shows the bespectacled poet carrying a manuscript and trilby hat.
