Sea quake triggersJapan tsunami alert
A magnitude 6.9 earthquake off Japan's southern coast led to a tsunami warning along the region's coastal areas last night.
The quake occurred off the island of Okinawa at 8.31pm British time and was expected to create a tsunami up to 6ft high near the Okinawan coast. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
