Seabirds give flight to musical project

THE New York-based Voxarre String Quartet will be performing a piece of music inspired by seabird calls along the East Coast when they appear at Sewerby Hall and Gardens tomorrow.

The piece, called Bempton Cliffs, was written by composer Stephen Kilpatrick and is from the Wingbeats project, part of Yorkshire’s contribution to the Cultural Olympiad.

Wingbeats is a creative project exploring flight in all its forms and was commissioned by Imove, Legacy Trust UK’s programme for the county which aims to create a lasting cultural legacy to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
