Search on for city's greenest family

THE race is on to find Hull's "greenest" family.

The search is on for a successor to Gillian Beadle and her daughter Leah who were chosen as the city's first ever eco-family in 2009.

Entries will close on Wednesday, July 14.

Ms Beadle and her daughter won the title after impressing the judges with their green credentials which included making their own Christmas decorations, using energy-saving lightbulbs throughout the house and religiously switching off appliances.

Hull Council's assistant head of service, Doug Sharp, said: "You don't have to be an eco-warrior.

"We are looking for a local family who are enthusiastic and understand the need to recycle when and where ever they have the opportunity.

"And, we want that family to help us spread the message about the advantages of recycling to other people in Hull."

The winning family will be awarded 250 to spend in vouchers, vouchers for Hull Leisure Centres and a trophy made from recycled material.

To apply call Hull 300300 or visit www.hullcc.gov.uk and complete the online questionnaire before July 14.
