Seasonal bus service re-introduced

A BUS service accessing some of the most idyllic and remotest parts of the Yorkshire Wolds has been re-introduced.

The seasonal Driffield-Malton Dodger – service 133 – runs between Driffield and Malton every Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday Monday and operates until the last Sunday in September.

The Dodger, named after the former Driffield to Malton railway which closed in 1950, follows the winding track as it weaves its way through the countryside.

The bus is the only public transport link between the two market towns.

“The Dodger is helping to establish the Wolds as a tourism destination bringing in visitors from further field,” said Adam Fowler of the City of Hull and Humber Environment Forum, which is promoting and co-ordinating the service.

The service is ideal for walkers many of whom use it to get to the Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail.

Other passengers catch it to see the scenery, or visit Sledmere House, which offers them an admission discount.

The timetable has been planned to connect with bus and rail services at Driffield and Malton.
