Secret corners of hidden Peak Park villages revealed to cycling fans

GUIDED bike rides aimed at helping people discover the wildlife and history of the Bradfields are being organised by the Peak District National Park Authority this autumn.

Three themed rides are being offered – free – by National Park Authority's cycling project Pedal Peak District in association with the Pedal Ready cycle training co-operative. Carol Parsons, event organiser for Pedal Peak District, said: "These guided rides are for anyone interested in getting some fresh air and finding out about England's largest parish...by exploring this hidden secret corner of the Peak District."

The first ride, on Sunday, October 10, begins at 10am at the Plough Inn in Low Bradfield to focus on bird watching. On Saturday, October 16 a ride will begin from Damflask reservoir at 10.30am, accompanied by fungi expert Dave Jefferies. A local history-themed bike ride is on Sunday, October 24, from the Rural Lane car park in Stannington at 10am.
