Lauren proposed to Hannah whilst holidaying in Lanzarotte in June. The couple, who are both from Selby, will honeymoon in the Caribbean later this year.

Chris Metcalfe, Executive Member with responsibility for the Registration Service for North Yorkshire County Council, said: “We are delighted to welcome Hannah and Lauren as the first couple to get married at Selby.

“We send them our warmest congratulations and good wishes for their future together on this special day”.

The newly-married couple said: “We are so glad we can share our wedding day with our family and friends - it means the world to us. The registrars have provided a really personal service; they have guided us through the whole event from beginning to end.”

The council says the new register office has has more parking spaces, a café, more room for guests at ceremonies, and better access for all than the previous base in UnionLane.
