Selina Scott: Why 50 really is the new 30

SELINA Scott and Peter Shilton will be at the Time of Your Life event in Harrogate next month.

Time of Your Life, which will be held at the Yorkshire Exhibition Centre on April 2-3, aims to showcase many of the lifestyle choices available to the over-50s.

The two-day event, which is co-organised by newspapers throughout the north of England, including the Yorkshire Post, will be officially opened by the newsreader, journalist, television producer and presenter, Selina Scott.

Selina, 59, will be spending time with competition winners and mixing with guests.

“For many of us, 50 really is the new 30. We’re just as energetic, enthusiastic and engaged as we were 20 years ago, but we also now have the time and resources to indulge our passions,” she said.

“There are so many options open to us. It can be a fantastic time of life.”

Visitors to Time of Your Life will be able to sample yoga and Tai Chi classes, learn basic Nordic walking techniques and take to the floor for some line-dancing or even a mass-participation jive teach-in, with demonstrations from 1940s’ DJ outfit GI Jive.

Former England football goalkeeper Peter Shilton OBE MBE – who holds the record for playing more games for England than any other player – will also be mingling with guests. Having recently taken part in the BBC TV show, Strictly Come Dancing, 61-year-old Peter will also be showing off his moves with competition winners.

Full details of how to win breakfast with Selina or a dance with Peter can be found at the event’s website, www.time-of-your-life.com.

For those who prefer to globe-trot rather than foxtrot, travel experts will be on hand to suggest the best ideas and itineraries for world tours, and for the foodies there’ll be live cookery theatre.

The event will include presentations from leading financial experts, and auctioneers Morphets of Harrogate will be there to value visitors’ antiques and collectables – free of charge.

Tickets cost £5, or £9 for two, and can be booked by visiting www.time-of-your-life.com or calling 01422 260277 between 8.30am and 5pm.
