Series of rush hour crashes on Leeds roads cause traffic chaos UPDATED

Three crashes in two hours left several people injured and caused traffic chaos in Leeds.

A teenage cyclist was injured in a collision with a bus on Abbeydale Way, in Kirkstall, at around 5pm. (June 27)

He was taken by ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary suffering from suspected head injuries.

Traffic was disrupted as Kirkstall Road was temporarily closed up to the junction of Hawksworth Road.

A woman was also injured a couple of hours earlier in a car crash near Sheepscar.

The incident happened at around 3.20pm close to North Street and the junction of the A61.

Firefighters attended the scene and the woman had to be cut free from her car.

It is believed she only suffered minor injuries in the crash.

A silver Honda and a yellow Mini Cooper were involved in the smash.

An ambulance and a rapid response vehicle attended the scene as well as fire appliances from both Moortown and Leeds.

The road was closed temporarily and re-opened just after 5pm.

Another incident happened at around 5.10pm on Otley Old Road.

The crash near Holy Name Primary School involved two vehicles.

No one was believed to have suffered serious injuries from the incident and some of the surrounding roads were closed for a short time.
