Sex attack accusedfound hanging in cell
A 23-year-old man accused of sexual assault was found hanging in his cell yesterday, the Prison Service said.
Matthew Brown, who was on remand in HMP Leeds over assault occasioning actual bodily harm and sexual assault, died shortly before 6am. Staff and paramedics tried to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead around 10 minutes after being discovered, the Prison Service said. The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will conduct an investigation.
