Sheffield: Bus driver taken to hospital after flour attack

A BUS driver was taken to hospital after having a substance, which was believed to be flour, thrown over him while he was at the wheel.

The driver, who has not been named by police, was driving along Redmires Road on the north-west edge of Sheffield when he was the victim of the “random assault” at approximately 5.50pm on Monday, July 9.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “During the alleged assault a powder, which is believed to be flour, was thrown over the driver.

“Police cordoned off the area so that forensic examinations could be carried out.

“The driver of the bus is not believed to have suffered serious injuries, but has been taken to hospital.”

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the Redmires Road area between 5.30pm and 6pm on Monday night, who saw the “assault”, to call South Yorkshire Police’s non-emergency number on 101.
