Sheffield murder victim named as two people held by police

Police have named the Sheffield man who died following a serious assault in the city centre.

Daniel Brelsford was taken to hospital with a head injury last week and died in hospital on Monday.

He had been found seriously injured in Devonshire Green on Wednesday, August 31, at about 3.45pm.

South Yorkshire Police today said two people were being held in connection with his death.

The first, a 20-year-old man, was arrested last night on suspicion of murder.

The second is a 19-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve Ashmore said: “We remain keen to hear from anyone who was in the West One Plaza and Devonshire Green area on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 31.”
