‘Shop window’ for town’s horticulture

A NEW display of flower power from more than 30 professional and volunteer groups across Harrogate district is to take place this month.

The inaugural event by Gardensharrogate, the tourism arm of Harrogate in Bloom, is being held at the Great Yorkshire Showground to showcase the horticultural work for which the spa town has become world-famous.

Dozens of exhibitors have signed up to take part, from the likes of RHS Garden Harlow Carr and the North of England Horticultural Society to volunteer groups across Harrogate, Ripon and Knaresborough.

Harrogate in Bloom member Mary Bond said: “We have decided to give growers a shop window right in town and we’re inviting the public to come and see the wonderful, often unsung work that’s going on all around us.

“And if they want to get involved, so much the better. There will be people they can talk to directly and also ask for advice and help.”

The event takes place on Sunday March 20, between 2pm and 4.40pm in the Wharfe Room of the Pavilions of Harrogate, at the Great Yorkshire Showground.

Entry is free.
