Shop worker in dark over pregnancy even dropped a dress size

A MOTHER who was unaware she was pregnant even dropped a dress size in the nine months before the unexpected birth of her baby boy.

Sarah Ireland had no idea she was expecting until little Stanley was delivered in the back of an ambulance.

She had even celebrated the Royal wedding before the surprise birth by trampolining with friends – unaware she was eight months pregnant.

The Scarborough shop worker told how she thought her contractions were period pains – but she was actually two weeks over her due date.

During her pregnancy, she dropped from a size 16 to a 14, did not take a single day off work and partied with friends. But she is now the proud mother to Stanley Joseph, who weighed in at 7lb 8oz in the early hours of May 31.

Miss Ireland, 23, who has two sisters, Aimee, 12, and Kacey, eight, said: “I always suffer with bad periods and these just seemed to continue as normal every month as I would expect. There was nothing out of the ordinary at all, which is why I was so surprised when Stanley was born.”

Her mother, Brenda, became concerned when Miss Ireland complained of crippling stomach pains. She called an ambulance for her daughter and paramedics initially feared Miss Ireland was suffering from a burst appendix.

But they then realised she was in labour before delivering the baby while on the way to Scarborough District Hospital.
