Signal failures as passengers suffer another morning of misery

RAIL passengers faced another morning of delays in West Yorkshire, with boses blaming “a signalling problem” at Denby Dale.

The fault caused delays to passengers travelling with Northern Rail. Buses had to replace trains between Barnsley, Penistone, Shepley and Huddersfield.

More signal problems led to delays to other rush-hour train journeys, with hold-ups on routes into a busy London terminus this morning.

Passengers travelling with the Southern train company had to contend with a signalling problem at London Bridge station.

A reduced service was running between New Cross Gate/South Bermondsey and London Bridge, while other services were delayed by up to 50 minutes.

To the east of London, passengers on the London to Tilbury and Southend services run by c2c were also affected by a signalling problem in the Dagenham area.

This led to delays between Grays/Upminster and Barking.
