Simon Cowell has proved he has the "X Factor" after being voted the celebrity women "shouldn't but would" like to enjoy a night of passion with.

The 50-year-old music mogul, who looks to be finally settling down after finding love with with make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy, received approval from 64 per cent of women in a poll.

Researchers for a website said more than half of those who voted for Cowell said they were turned on by his power – but only put US president Barack Obama in seventh place with 47 per cent of their votes.

Gavin And Stacey star James Corden came second, with 61 per cent of 1,264 women questioned finding him desirable.

Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond also got the green light, coming third and fourth place respectively.

Fiery chef Gordon Ramsay, silver-haired This Morning host Phillip Schofield, and funnyman Ricky Gervais also did well in the top 10.
