Sisters flying to Singapore for death inquiry

The grieving sisters of a woman who plunged to her death from a balcony during England’s World Cup win over Slovenia last year will fly out to Singapore next month for the hearing into her death.

Sarah Royle, a former Calder High School pupil, suffered severe head injuries in the fall in Singapore only hours after celebrating the win in June 2010.

Despite doctors’ best efforts during a six hour operation, her life support machine was switched off three days later. Her sisters Jo and Premsa were at her bedside.

Since then, her family has faced an agonising wait to find out what happened on the night she fell.

Jo and Premsa, of Todmorden, now hope their questions will be answered at the hearing.

Jo Royle, who works for an events company, said: “We are flying out there in three weeks to find out what happened to Sarah.”

Her sister Premsa added: “We are hoping to find out what happened to our sister.

“That’s why we are going out there. We hope to get some form of closure. We think this is the final investigation.”

Earlier this year, family and friends held a dinner to commemorate what would have been Sarah’s 32nd birthday.
