Six-part TV drama series to be filmed in Yorkshire

THE makers of hit TV shows Spooks and Life on Mars will film a major new drama series in York.

The six-part drama, called Eternal Law, is due to be shot in the city from February 14 next year and pre-production began this month.

It is being produced for ITV by Kudos Film and Television, which was launched in 1992 and has been responsible for a series of hugely successful dramas, and Monastic Productions.

The series will focus on two central characters, Zak and Tom, who are angels sent to earth to help a community and try to understand the human condition.

The announcement is the latest coup for the region's burgeoning film industry after Yorkshire locations have featured in high-profile productions.

The Trip, A Passionate Woman, Married Single Other and This Is England '86 were all filmed in the region before being shown on TV this year.

The region was also the setting for a number of major film shoots, including Andrea Arnold's new production of Wuthering Heights.
