Size crusade on the menu

CUSTOMERS wanting a quick cuppa are entitled to wonder what happened to the days of a small coffee.

The Plain English Campaign, which battles against the use of jargon, is infuriated, and now Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland has joined the backlash.

"Having a regular coffee means having a coffee every day, it doesn't mean the size," he said.

Mr Mulholland is rallying fellow MPs behind his crusade against the americanisation of the English language after tabling a motion in the Commons calling for the word "regular" to be prohibited from being used in coffee shops and cafes.
