Sky’s the limit for young artist

HISTORY has proved that from the depths of a recession come some of the finest works of art.

And young Harrogate artist April Kennedy is hoping to be the latest to follow the trend.

The 21-year-old has decided to devote herself to her childhood dream of being a professional painter after – like many her age – being frustrated in her hunt for a job she enjoyed.

The former Harrogate Granby High School student has now been selected to show her first ever art exhibition in Harrogate Library, which runs until Monday.

“I have always loved painting since I was young and since there are no jobs around I just thought I’m going to give this a go,” she said. My aim now is to get more exhibitions and see where it takes me.”
