Smokers offered help to kick habit

SMOKERS in Rotherham are being offered 12 weeks of free nicotine replacement therapy.

To qualify for the scheme, run by Rotherham NHS Stop Smoking Service, patients must be registered with a Rotherham GP.

The service also offers free advice, confidential support and information at different venues across the town, including the Stop Smoking Shop on Bridgegate in the town centre.

Simon Lister, NHS Rotherham Smoking Cessation Manager, said: “New Year is a time when most of us make resolutions around getting fitter and healthier and there is no better way to improve your health than to stop smoking. You are four times more likely to quit with the Rotherham Stop Smoking Service compared to willpower alone.”

Information is available from 01709 422444. The shop is open 9am to 5pm Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 10am to 5pm on Wednesday, 9am to noon on Thursday and 10am to 1pm on Saturday.
