Snappers asked to capture stately home in new light

ITs grandeur has been immortalised in words, images and film throughout its extensive history.

The challenge now, however, is to portray Castle Howard and grounds in a whole other light.

Amateur photographers are being asked to put their skills to the test and demonstrate how much the country house and estate has to offer beyond that familiar from Brideshead Revisited, perhaps the most recognisable identity.

The competition, called Castle Howard: Through My Eyes, invites snappers of all ages to explore everything from the imposing architecture and the rolling hills which surround the estate.

Judge Nick Howard said: ‘Having grown up at Castle Howard I am well aware of the unique qualities of our beautiful Yorkshire landscape, with every season bringing something new to admire and enjoy.

“As a keen photographer myself, I feel inspired every time I venture out, camera in hand, and look forward to reviewing the many fantastic entries I am sure we will receive.”

The contest runs from March 26 to December 31, and entries will form the basis of a new exhibition in 2016, when the winners will be announced.

Photos can be shared on social media using the hashtag #CaptureCH and final entries should be submitted via email to [email protected].
