A SOCIAL worker from Yorkshire has been banned from practising after a disciplinary council found that problems in her personal life led to her failing to do her job properly.

The General Social Care Council struck Jeanette Russell from its register after hearing that she had illegally altered social services records relating to her own family situation.

A panel heard Ms Russell, who worked for Rotherham Council, failed to tell her employers about domestic violence in her personal life which affected her work in the community.

The hearing was also told that she “did not co-operate” with social workers assigned to her and her family and modified official records in relation to her family’s circumstances.

Members of the panel found Ms Russell guilty of misconduct, saying her behaviour was “characterised by arrogance and impetuosity”.
