Solicitor takes new role as district judge

A solicitor has been appointed a district judge to be based at Sheffield Magistrates' Court from next Monday.

Naomi Redhouse, 54, who was admitted as a solicitor in 1984, formerly worked in London.

She was appointed a deputy district judge in 2003 and has now been assigned by Lord Chancellor Jack Straw to the North Eastern Circuit. Holders of her new position used to be known as stipendiary magistrates.
