Solo comedian still has a ball at launch of charity cookbook

Comedian Tommy Cannon was having a ball at Selby College yesterday.

He joined dozens of staff, students and guests for the launch of a charity recipe book in memory of a former student Scott Robinson, who was just 18 when he lost his battle against cancer last summer.

Described by his tutors as having “the makings of a great chef along with the imagination, determination and strength of character to achieve in a hugely demanding profession”, he was remembered affectionately by his fellow students.

The Sweetest Thoughts recipe book features more than 50 delicious dessert recipes all donated by staff and students at the college and their relatives.

Launching the book Mr Cannon said: “It’s a real honour to be here today, I don’t think there can be many people whose lives haven’t been touched in some way by cancer, I know mine certainly has.”

“I never got to meet Scott, but from what I’ve heard today I feel I know him and this book is a great tribute to his memory.”

The book, which is on sale in college and at the town’s Tesco store priced £4 per copy can also be purchased by emailing [email protected]. Proceeds from the sale of the book will be split between Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK.
