Spa plans used to illustrate talent of region’s architects

VISITORS to an exhibition at Bridlington Spa can see the plans used for its refurbishment as part of a display of work by some of the region’s leading architects.

“Drawing Board”, an exhibition sponsored by NPS Humber Ltd, illustrates the creative process in architecture and features a variety of drawing and visualisations, highlighting the ideas explored before a design reaches its final stages.

Included are the drawings by East Riding Council architects which helped transform the Spa from a Victorian entertainment centre into the modern concert and conference centre it is today as part of a £20m refurbishment project.

Other work featured includes designs for eco-villages, colleges and housing.

The work has been put together by Hull architecture centre Arc.

Steve George, director of design at NPS Humber, said: “At a time of recession and gloom in the construction industry Arc is right to highlight the talent of the region’s architects.

“This is the second year that NPS has had the privilege of sponsoring the exhibition, and we hope that the public will be as delighted as we are with this showcase of local creativity.”

The exhibition, which opens tomorrow, can be seen in the Gallery Suite until next Saturday. To host the exhibition or find out more call 01482 280033.
