Sports safety proposal clears Commons hurdle
A Bill to extend the influence of a football safety body set up after the Hillsborough disaster has cleared its first Commons hurdle.
Under the Sports Grounds Safety Authority Bill, the Football Licensing Authority (FLA) would be re-named and provide advice about spectator safety rather than be abolished under the plan to get rid of Government quangos.
