Stabbed Bradford children died after being rushed to hospital, inquest hears

Two young children died in hospital after being found with multiple stab wounds, an inquest was told.

Bradford Coroner’s Court heard today that sisters Evelyn Lupidi, three, and 16 month-old Jasmine Weaver, of Church Lane, Heckmondwike, died in the “same set of circumstances”.

The girls’ mother, Samira Lupidi, 24, has been charged with their murder.

Assistant Coroner Oliver Longstaff said: “The circumstances in which Evelyn and Jasmine died is subject to an investigation.

“I understand that an arrest has been made and someone has been charged in relation to these deaths.

“The inquest will continue after the criminal investigation if necessary.”

The sisters’ names and dates of birth were confirmed during the short hearing.

Police said the children were found at a property in Mint Street, Bradford, with multiple stab wounds.

Both children died at Bradford Royal Infirmary at around noon on November 17.

Evelyn was born in Italy on January 27, 2012, and Jasmine was born in Huddersfield on June 26, 2014.

Coroner’s officer Chris Dalby said lawyers representing Lupidi did not require a second post-mortem examination.

The inquest was adjourned pending the outcome of the police investigation.

Lupidi appeared at Bradford Crown court via video link on Monday, November 23 but is yet to enter a plea.

She is expected to appear again at court in February and a provisional trial date has been set for May.
