Staff with heart get into losing habit

A FIRM in East Yorkshire measured up to a challenge to lose pounds and inches – and helped raise over £7,000 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

MKM Building Supplies won the eight-week event held in support of the British Heart Foundation's annual fundraising campaign Red for Heart, which took place during National Heart Month in February. Teams of employees and staff from the merchant's 36 branches, including branches in Hull; Anlaby; Driffield; Beverley, Bridlington and Scarborough took part

The challenge was aimed at improving their health and fitness and the funds have now been presented to the nation's heart charity.

Employees and customers across the UK also reaped benefits, and overall, across all the branches, MKM lost a staggering 879kg in weight and 561 inches around the waist.

Each member of a team created their own individual health goals, which included losing weight, reducing their blood pressure, stopping smoking and taking more exercise. The overall winner was MKM in Beverley, East Yorkshire, who improved the most over the eight weeks.
