Stage is set for Abba tribute at concert for cancer centre

AMATEUR Abba tribute singers are set to take to the stage at one of Doncaster's biggest-ever music festivals in a bid to raise money for the town's dedicated cancer charity.

Trish Wood and Daniela Edward have appeared as their Abba heroes Agnetha and Anni-Frid several times at charity gigs around the town to support the Aurora Centre.

The centre provides services for men and women from the Doncaster and Bassetlaw area who have been diagnosed with cancer, aiming to help them live with the condition.

The duo, who call themselves Twice as Nice, have so far raised more than 12,000 for the charity and hope to raise more at the music festival which will take place this month.

Mrs Wood, who has co-organised the show at Cusworth Hall with her husband Chris, said she was looking forward to playing alongside 1970s glam rockers The Sweet, who will headline the event.

She added: "Being able to raise so much money for such a great charity makes all the hard work worthwhile. I hope plenty of people will come along to the event and enjoy a day out with family and friends."

The Cusworth Music Festival will take place on Sunday, August 29, from noon until 11pm with an outdoor stage hosting a series of bands playing a variety of music.
