Music legend Sir Paul McCartney has been honoured in his home city with an “icon” award.
The former Beatle, 69, returned to Liverpool to stage the sell-out finale to his One The Run world tour at the city’s Echo Arena.
To mark the event, Sir Paul was named an Echo Arena Icon and presented with a specially-designed accolade.
Bob Prattey, chief executive of the venue, said: “Sir Paul is the biggest musical icon of all time so we hope our award is a fitting tribute.
“He seemed extremely proud to accept the award and thrilled to be playing in Liverpool for the final leg of his latest tour.”
