Star Wars fans hunt for clues in 88-second film

Star Wars geeks spent the weekend poring over the 88-second trailer for next year’s The Force Awakens, the long-awaited seventh instalment of the science fiction saga.

The web verdict was largely positive; the look and feel of the promo suggests a return to the production values of the original trilogy rather than the computed generated approach of the poorly received follow-up films.

Eagle-eyed fans spotted that the Millennium Falcon spaceship had a square-shaped radar dish - in keeping with the destruction of the original circular dish at the end of 1983’s Return of the Jedi.

But opinions were sharply divided over the merits of the new triple-bladed lightsaber.
