Stately home hitby huge blaze

A huge blaze at a converted stately home was caused by an unattended electric blanket, the fire service revealed yesterday.

Some 12 engines and 60 firefighters battled the blaze at Grade II-listed Holnest Park House, in Dorset, on Saturday night. After an investigation the service believes that an electric blanket, left on for “some hours” in a ground floor flat, was the cause. Fire investigation officer Mike Cox said: “Some very, very simple safety measures would have prevented this happening.”
