Stolen sheepmeat risk

Have your say

Police investigating the theft of sheep from moorland near Sheffield raised concerns yesterday that meat from the stolen animals could be being sold.

Around 50 sheep were discovered missing from Houndkirk Moor on the southern edge of the city, while some of those that remained had bullet wounds.

Last night South Yorkshire Police and the Food Standards Agency said meat from the sheep could be harmful as they had recently been given routine injections

A force spokesman said anyone who may have been offered lamb for sale either privately or as part of the butchery trade should contact officers on 101 or pass the details to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
