Stones guitarist hits a chord as paintings roll into town

As one of the world’s greatest rock bands the Rolling Stones have performed on stage thousands times to millions of screaming fans across the globe.

Now their memorable life on stage is set to feature in a special art exhibition in Harrogate – created by the band’s guitarist Ronnie Wood.

A painter for 35 years, the musician has always combined his love of music with art.

His latest work is currently on display in the spa town’s Castle Gallery and focuses on the four individual members of the Stones.

Created on paper and canvas, The Famous Flames Suite captures the raw electricity of the group performing on stage, with one piece entitled The Stones On Stage – Got Me Rocking.

An eclectic and experimental artist, Wood creates his originals pieces in charcoal, oils, pastels and acrylic and likes to vary his medium depending on the feeling or mood he is trying to evoke.

He is a popular exhibitor in the US, where former president Bill Clinton bought one of Wood’s painting as a 60th birthday present. The guitarist has also won many accolades from the artistic community for his technical ability and creative mind.

The gallery has previously featured an exhibition by musical legend Bob Dylan.
